Boston Public Library Wedding : A Styled Affair
Not being a Bostonian native, one of my first experiences upon arriving in Beantown was wondering into the historic Boston Public Library, notable for its serenity and elegance. When picturing a bride-to-be in the space I could only describe her as “Demure.” For she would not only be reserved and modest but ultra classic.
To compliment the pink Knoxville marble, vaulted ceilings, and mural paintings I choose a dramatic color palette and style. The organic arrangements from Ariana and Sarah Ducas of Moonstone & Moss complimented the Romona Keveza gown. The bouquet and centerpiece included: clematis, jasmine, stock, alium, queen anne’s lace, scabiosa, rose, and eucalyptus.
From the makeup artist, LYB Makeup Artistry…I wanted to bring a simple elegance to this bridal makeup. I chose a classic cat eye liner, giving maximum definition and emphasis on the eyes. Aiming to keep the face & lips very natural, I used a soft pink to compliment the brides fair skin tone and finished it off with a nude lip.
From the calligrapher, Extras By Alaina… I was particularly inspired by the classic beauty of the bride, the youthfulness of this duo’s love, and the beautifully contrasting color palette. Deep eggplant, dusted rose, golds, and greens were the start of my art-making process, from which I designed an invitation suite, coordinating addressed envelopes, and place cards. In the case of the invitation suite, I hand-painted and hand-lettered each element on paper and then digitized the designs to pull together a polished suite. As for the envelopes and place cards, I opted for a bit of calligraphic variety – using various colored inks and envelopes to demonstrate the different avenues one might take within the same scheme.
